Maarten Verwaest holds a Master in physics. Gifted with a sharp analytic mind and a passionate understanding of technology he learned Information Technology on the job at Framatome Connectors. In charge of the mechanics department, he introduced Pro-engineer as a tool for model-driven development, he implemented CAD/CAM system integration and, off peak hours, he developed robotic measurement systems. In 1998 he became the technology expert at VRT responsible for the design and implementation of plus-million-euro projects, including an integrated ‘Digital Newsroom Production System’, multiple media asset management and web content management systems and a large-scale Content Delivery Network serving broadband applications. The last four years he has been the design authority for a 30 man-year project that delivered a Virtual Modelling system for television production. Author of several distinguished publications and invited as a speaker to conferences worldwide, Maarten knows the international media production business as the back of his hand. Using his broad network of contacts in this business, relying on his critical appreciation of current trends and capitalizing on his extensive experience at setting up large architectures, he’s to herald Limecraft’s vision of industrialising and professionalizing the media industry.

Nico Oorts holds a Master in electronic engineering. Starting in public broadcasting at the VRT as application engineer in charge of the television post production unit, he swiftly joined the VRT Medialab.  Fascinated by applied research and with a natural talent to lead large teams successfully, he managed several large-scale research projects on media adaption, multichannel publication formats, media exchange formats and media system integration and he co-authored scientific publications that were presented at international conferences. He had his first hand at setting up a business as co-founder of channl.tv, an online video management platform. In 2008 he deployed VRT’s Digital Media Factory, a file based media production platform servicing over 1000 professional users. Consequently he started to work at Boulevart, a web production company, where he built a media asset management system for one of Belgiums largest content distributor. Nico takes to Limecraft his ample knowledge of the media production apparatus, his extensive expertise at building innovative media applications and his sound people skills to guide its research and development department. As such helping the media industry to enter the new digital era.

Carole Delaey, Product manager  -  .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

imageCarole Delaey is a professionally trained film producer/director with first-hand experience in managing complex international projects. She worked in public broadcasting with the BBC and VRT and undertook several independent film projects. During the production of ‘Requiem for a Cup Final’, she was handling the largest budget for a documentary film in Belgium (over € 700.000). In 2006 she set up her own company, targeting Belgian and foreign filmmakers. Her objective was to capitalize on new industry trends such as Web 2.0, new media and web video by supporting the efforts of independent filmmakers in bringing their work to market. Later on, she managed an IBBT research project ‘Independent Films in Progress’, an online production environment to facilitate and enhance the financing and production of independent films, for a total of 16 man-months in research and development. This experience led to her current position as product manager for Limecraft, to help develop the software she as a producer would love to work with.
