On June 21, on the 2nd International Workshop on Data-driven Personalisation of Television (DataTV-2021) at the ACM International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences (IMX 2021), our CTO Dieter van Rijsselbergen will discuss the state of the art of AI in media production.

He will highlight the results of trials conducted with early adopters in the context of the ‘MeMAD’ project, a Horizon2020 project over the past three years. He will talk about what kinds of machine learning enrichment technologies already work in practice and which are promising to go live in the coming 12 to 24 months. These include speech transcription for content de-rushing or auto-subtitling, machine translation for content retrieval and interlingual subtitling, and unsupervised content segmentation and description. Furthermore, he’ll discuss the challenges that need to be addressed to allow commercial adoption.
