On June 21, on the 2nd International Workshop on Data-driven Personalisation of Television (DataTV-2021) at the ACM International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences (IMX 2021), our CTO Dieter van Rijsselbergen discussed the state of the art of AI in media production.

He highlighted the results of trials conducted with early adopters in the context of the ‘MeMAD’ project, a Horizon2020 project conducted in 2018-2021. He also discussed different kinds of machine learning enrichment technologies already work in practice and which are promising to go live in near future. These include speech transcription for content de-rushing or auto-subtitling, machine translation for content retrieval and interlingual subtitling, and unsupervised content segmentation and description. Furthermore, he’ll address the main challenges and hurdles to adoption for commercial adoption.
