IBC, the technological hub for rising stars and seasoned veterans, took place in Amsterdam on September 10th-15th. Innovative ideas and engaging demos lead to meeting after meeting, as visitors roamed the RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre halls in the hopes of stumbling upon genius. And the genius’ were afoot, from all around the world, eager to show what makes them stand out in the crowd. I am happy to say that Limecraft was one of them, as our booth was consistently buzzing with activity.

IBC Innovation Awards

During the IBC Innovation Awards ceremony, Limecraft received the prestigious honour of Finalist in the Content Management category. The recognition was presented to Limecraft, AVID and dock10 for their combined efforts towards the “field dock” solution, its new remote ingest service. Launched earlier this year, ‘field dock’ is fully integrated with Avid® Interplay®.
‘field dock’ performs local card and drive media management, includes a native player, connectivity testing, supports a variety of formats and ingests over IP to dock10’s post facility or to their private cloud, accessed through a browser based web portal. In the backend, Limecraft takes care of synchronisation towards Avid IP PAM and near-line storage services underneath.
The unique feature about ‘field dock’ is that it removes the bottleneck of ingesting raw material, cutting the time between shoot and edit to a strict minimum. To that purpose, ‘field dock’ creates and uploads proxies of the material while raw versions arrive in central storage, on disc or via fiber connection. Then, Limecraft automatically relinks the rough- cuts and the logging information to the original footage. The solution significantly saves on production time and ensures the safety of valuable material. Because all ‘field dock’ instances use encrypted synchronised Access Control Lists (ACL’s), the service guarantees end-to-end security.

“Limecraft is proud to be recognised as a leading technology provider continuing to strive towards innovation. What an achievement! Thanks to all the hard work from the teams at dock10, Avid and Limecraft, we now provide a solution that helps producers create, manage and share great content. Successful collaboration, that is what Limecraft is all about.”

Media Innovators in the Low Lands

Maarten also appeared on the Media Innovators in the Low Lands panel that was put on by MediaNet Vlaanderen. Dutch and Flemish companies discussed what was needed to flourish in the media industry to forge ahead and be successful. The panel was unanimous in saying that collaboration is key, which is a value that we highly believe in here at Limecraft. It is those relationships that will push the boundaries of innovative thinking.
It takes a lot to survive 5 days of meetings, air conditioned buildings and even more meetings, but the connections and camaraderie in beginning a new business partnership makes it all worthwhile. We will be back next year with stronger relationships and more forward thinking ideas.
See you next time!
